Blocks N09 + N10 Athletes Village,
Olympic Park,
Stratford

As part of the 2012 Olympics this was a very high profile project. Set on a roof the main garden was built up using lightweight materials but also incorporating some of the largest semi mature trees used on the whole development and specimen shrubs with ornamental clipped hedging.

Kempton Race Course All Weather Track

Client Heery International Limited

Value £230,000

Architect Hyland Edgar Driver

In 2005/2006 a new floodlit, all-weather course was constructed to compliment the original course, which had seen its first race in 1878. This new course had to blend in and be sympathetic to the local environment, which included a lake, open grassland and mature woodland. Working for Heery International Limited and under the direction of prominent landscape architects Hyland Edgar Driver, we supplied and planted several hundred semi-mature trees, hedges, aquatic plants and wildflower meadows. Post contract we returned to construct a high quality feature adjacent to the finish line, which can often be seen during televised race coverage.

Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 Car Park

Client Laing O Rourke Limited

Value £97,000

Architect Hyland Edgar Driver

When the new multistory car park was built for Terminal 3 the architect and client were keen to ‘soften’ its impact on the local environment. Through Laing O Rourke Limited, we were employed to source a large number of semi-mature white birch trees from Germany. These were planted around the building and under planted with a carpet of evergreen ivy giving a fantastic impact as you approach the entrance to the car park.

Belmarsh West Prison

Client Skanska

Value £245,000

Architect Capita Architecture

Working within the confines of the strict security associated with a prison, we worked closely with Skanska, Capita Architecture, and local environmentalists to import several thousand tones of premium grade topsoil, which was then planted and laid to lawns. As part of the local ecology regeneration, black poplars of native providence were transplanted from recorded sites in Sussex to areas within the prison grounds.

RAF Northolt

Client Vinci Construction

Value £310,000

Architect MOD

With the centralisation of some of the service bases RAF Northolt was redeveloped to accommodate additional housing and personnel. We were employed for over 2 years by Vinci Construction to provide all of the soft landscaping and associated works.

Blackfriars Station – Pauls Walk and Embankment

Client Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Limited

Value £110.000

Architect Jacobs

Constructing a station to span the Thames was always going to be a challenge and blending it in with local landscaping needed a thoughtful and sensitive approach.

We were employed by Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Limited to landscape both the Northside and Southside of the bridge. The Southside had to be completed in time for the Queens Jubilee celebrations, which meant sourcing and planting semi mature trees out of season. For the Northside our package included replacing approximately 150m2 of natural York stone paving along the Embankment and supplying and planting over 20 semi mature multi-stem birch trees. The scheme was a challenge in itself and all materials had to be delivered at night and hoisted into position using mobile cranes, necessitating road closure permits from the City of London.
